Job Details
This position is a temporary, part-time appointment in Religious Education. Due to the subject matter taught, this position is specifically for on-island applicants who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who hold current temple recommends. This semester-to-semester contract may only be teaching one class. There are no associated relocation benefits.

Job Summary
Teach course(s) as needed by the program as a part-time faculty member. Additional responsibilities may include advising students.
Primary Responsibilities
Teaching undergraduate students the gospel of Jesus Christ from the scriptures and modern prophets in a way that helps each student build faith in Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and His Atonement, the restored gospel and living prophets.
Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets university standards.
Planning and creating lesson plans, with learning activities, in-class discussions and assignments designed to meet the purposes of Religious Education.
Grading assigned papers, quizzes, and exams.
Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
Qualifications
We seek candidates that support our mission (https://about.byuh.edu/mission.html) and who are committed to strengthening our students both spiritually and intellectually. Experience in teaching religious education at Church universities and/or in Seminaries & Institutes is particularly valued.
The individual should be completely committed to helping prepare students to serve in their families, communities, and the Church throughout the world, with a particular emphasis on Oceania and the Asian Rim region. Additional consideration will be given to those with background and experience in or with Oceania and Asian Rim countries.
Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s/Doctorate degree strongly preferred; must be from regionally accredited institutions.

Approximate starting adjunct semester contract $1,425 - $2,175 per credit, the wage offered is dependent upon applicants’ degree and years of university level teaching experience.
