Job Title:  Certified Nursing Assistant Program Coordinator

Department: EMU at Lancaster

Supervisor: Executive Director

FLSA Classification:  Exempt

Schedule: Regular, 12 mo., FT, M-F 

                                                                                                                                                

Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, developing, directing, evaluating, and coordinating the Nursing Assistant Training Program established by EMU Lancaster in accordance with current federal and Pennsylvania guidelines.   The Program Coordinator gives oversight of hiring, onboarding, leading, and evaluating certified adjunct instructors and is responsible for adhering to and staying up to date with the Pennsylvania Department of Education requirements in the management, growth, and evaluation of the CNA program.

Duties/Responsibilities:
    Provide leadership in formulating the goals and objectives of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program.Plan, develop, direct, evaluate, and coordinate the educational curriculum for the Certified Nursing Assistant Program to meet the Federal regulations of OBRA and the State law of Act 14.Direct the preparation, scheduling and selection of instructional material, equipment, and training aids to ensure that a meaningful training program is provided to meet the Federal regulations of OBRA and the State law of Act 14.Place orders for instructional materials, including textbooks.Maintain appropriate record keeping documents as outlined in the course specifications and mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.Interview and decide on acceptance for student candidates.Schedule class dates and assign instructors.Partner with Long Term Care administrators and CNA program partners to facilitate/grow enrollment.Select, interview, hire, supervise and evaluate faculty.Assist with orientation of new faculty.Participate alongside direct supervisor and Human Resources for the dismissal of instructors.Assist with resolving student and/or faculty issues.Conduct periodic and comprehensive program evaluations.Facilitate the (re)approval process by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.Participate in the compliance review process conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.Remain current on new developments by attending professional institutions, reading professional journals, and attending professional seminars as required.Maintain confidentiality of all student records and resident care information.Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: 
    Ability to comprehend complex information in order to create queries, prepare reports, correspondence, coordinate information both manually and on the computer.Ability to organize and maintain manual and computerized filing systems.Ability to work independently and with minimal direct supervision.Attention to detail for accurately preparing and maintaining accurate records.Good memory skills for recalling dates, people, events, and records in order to retrieve information for reports and files.Ability to have a professional and neat appearance.Ability to set goals, prioritize and organize job tasks and workload in order to meet deadlines, ability to complete work in a timely manner and communicate progress routinely with Administrative support and direct supervisor.Interpersonal skills for assisting faculty, staff, students, applicants and other visitors, and insurance vendors.Ability to use a PC and mainframe, a modem and software such as payroll, Windows, Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook) for preparing and processing payroll, queries, downloading computerized information, surveys, bills, and other types of correspondence.Ability to operate commonly used office equipment such as a copy machine, fax, phone, etc.Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with a wide variety of constituents.

 Education and Experience:

    Required: Current credentials/licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), and ability to obtain approval by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  Experience in Teaching/Training.Preferred: At least one year experience in a long-term care facility (patient care).   Project Management, Program Development and/or Leadership experience.  Higher Education experience.
