The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine invites applications for a full-time, research track position in the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences and the Center for Integrative Global Oral Health available at the Assistant, or Associate Professor level.



Job Description:
The Research Faculty member will play a key role in developing evidence syntheses, such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and contributing to evidence-informed practice guidelines and policies in oral health. The role involves implementing established and innovative research methodologies for living guideline development, participating in stakeholder engagement, and ensuring effective communication among guideline panels and advisory boards. The faculty member will also assist in identifying relevant data to inform GRADE evidence-to-decision tables, prepare meeting materials, and contribute to manuscript writing and deliverables.

In evidence synthesis, the faculty member will collaborate with other senior researchers by contributing to designing study protocols, developing screening and data extraction forms, conducting data analysis, assessing the certainty of evidence, facilitating guideline panel meetings, and dissemination. Responsibilities also include preparing summary-of-findings tables and other evidence synopses products. Dissemination efforts will focus on creating presentations, reports, and publications in peer-reviewed journals to communicate guideline recommendations.

Additionally, the role includes supporting the development of educational and training materials for guideline panels and users to enhance understanding and utilization of evidence and guideline recommendations. The research faculty member will be expected to contribute to the Master of Science in Oral and Population Health (MOPH) and support students in a mentorship capacity. Other duties may be assigned as needed.


Qualifications
The position requires a terminal degree in the respective field and 3-5 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., DDS, BDS, DMD, MD, PhD). An additional advanced degree in a healthcare or research-related field (e.g., MPH, MSc) is desirable. Candidates should possess strong analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work independently.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity with systematic review methodologies and guideline development standards (e.g., GRADE) and software tools (e.g., DistillerSR, MAGICapp, GRADEpro, Epistemonikos, RevMan Web, STATA, R Studio, Endnote, Covidence).

• Experience working with professional healthcare organizations or guideline development committees.

• Background in oral health research.

• Experience conducting educational and training programs.

Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for work authorization.
