GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Adjunct Instructor to join our team. In this role, the instructor will foster student learning with minimal supervision, teaching a mix of lecture and hands-on classes across various Kirkwood locations. We are looking for candidates with a strong background in machining. College-level teaching experience is preferred.
The available position is for the course MFG 145 Light Machining for the Trades, which meets on the Cedar Rapids main campus on Tuesdays from 11:40-3:30 and Thursdays from 1:30-3:30, running from January 21 to May 13, 2024.

- Communicate with Kirkwood staff, students, and faculty to ensure student success.
- Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
- Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.
- Welcome, value, and nurture people of all backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, as well as support and promote an environment that accepts differences.
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
- Completion of specialized training and at least 6,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in machining or related industry.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience teaching at the college level or leading training sessions.
