Description

Position Overview:
Under the direct supervision of the building Principal and the University of Central Oklahoma, to assist in maintaining an orderly and safe atmosphere in the concurrent monitoring space by helping and supervising students during any times concurrent classes are not meeting in accordance with Board policy and established district procedures.

The primary duty (more than 50% and most significant) of this position is to instruct and impart knowledge upon students within the concurrent course program; therefore, it qualifies for the FLSA teaching exemption category.

Position requires ability to travel between and report to job sites at both UCO's main campus in Edmond and various locations within the Deer Creek school district.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and instruction to students
  • Assists in supervising students during the school day
  • Ensures that students remain in their assigned area during their concurrent time
  • Circulates space to be available as needed
  • Reports to counselor, principal, and/or other personnel, as appropriate
  • Assists with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance
  • Assists with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions, ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task
  • Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner or assistance for all students, including those with disabilities or other special needs
  • Check and record student attendance as directed by the teacher

  • May distribute textbooks, supplies or other materials as requested
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned

Qualification Requirements:

An earned bachelor's degree and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance.

Qualification Preferred:
Successful prior experience working in a school district or with children preferred.

  • Effective organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain composure and perform responsibilities under pressure
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality about students in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and district guidelines
