Job Details
- Dispatch outgoing mail to include registered, certified, insured, and international mail.
- Weighs and determine the correct mailing type and cost. Makes entries to records regarding postage, parcels, and special handling for chargeback purposes.
- Operates postal meters and adds postage to the meters.
- Examines outgoing mail for proper postage and sealing. Sorts and files interdepartmental and incoming mail to prepare it for proper distribution throughout the campus. Look up the correct addresses of incorrectly addressed mail to ensure it is delivered to the correct location on campus.
- Assists with delivery of parcels and letter mail to the dorms. Delivers mail to departments, Federal post offices, and other locations in the absence of mail processors regularly scheduled for those routes.
- Assists mail processors regularly scheduled for routes with the delivery of mail as needed. Assists with coverage of the retail counter for lunch breaks and staff absences. Assists with the processing of bulk mailings as needed.
- Provides customer service by fielding phone calls and emails or assisting in person with questions and concerns relating to mail procedures. Assists Mail Supervisor II with the planning workflow of daily mail operations including the sorting, processing, and distribution of incoming mail. All other duties as required or needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years in clerical work.
- Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
