Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.:

  • Experience in performing electrical, carpentry, and plumbing repairs.
  • Experience supervising, training, and appraising full-time staff members.
  • Knowledge in completing order requests for material, supplies, and equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience using personal computers for data entry, report writing, e-mail, etc.
  • Skill in working as a team member, providing quality customer service, and providing clear, concise communication both written and oral.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years supervisory experience
  • Experience providing maintenance service in an educational environment
  • Experience providing apartment maintenance

Job Description:

The Head Maintenance Worker oversees maintenance and repair tasks across various craft areas, ensuring efficient operations within their assigned area of campus. Leading a team of 4-5 maintenance technicians, they maintain a comfortable living environment for students residing in housing facilities managed by the Department of Housing and Residential Life.

Job Duties:

Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of 4-5 maintenance technicians.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure high-quality work.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Facility Maintenance:
  • Coordinate repairs, replacements, and installations in various crafts.
  • Operate and monitor computerized building control systems and work orders.
  • Independently perform repairs and installations on complex building systems and equipment.
  • Oversee scheduling, planning, and execution of maintenance and repair work.
  • Implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to reduce emergency repairs and maintain facility efficiency.
  • Assist with after-hours emergencies.

Additional Information to Applicants:

  • This position requires driving University vehicles.
