The Department of Psychology, within the College of Arts & Sciences, is seeking a full-time Research Support Specialist reporting to Dr. Brian Doss. The Research Support Specialist serves as a project coordinator for the Juntos Después del Cancer project, a three-site project (in collaboration with USF and UCF) to help Latina breast cancer survivors and their partners strengthen their romantic relationship. Couples in this project are randomized to receive either regular support services or an adapted version of the online/app-based OurRelationship program (www.OurRelationship.com).
The Specialist will serve as the coordinator for various recruitment and operational and matters for the project. Specifically, the Specialist will be the primary recruiter for couples by using UM’s Consent to Contact list and visiting offices of UM oncologists’ and other service providers. The Specialist will also be responsible for documenting participant contact efforts, helping write progress reports to the funder, and helping ensure compliance with IRB-approved protocols. Finally, the Specialist will take on time-limited projects as necessary.
Successful candidates will be fluent in both spoken and written Spanish and English, possess an ability to relate and communicate with diverse population and groups, as well as multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure while being resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise. Opportunities to publish and present at professional conferences will be encouraged. The primary work location of this position is on the Gables campus in the Department of Psychology, with weekly travel to the downtown Sylvester Cancer Center and/or satellite campuses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience.
