Educational and Experience Requirement:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business technology-related, or a related field from an accredited institution. Five years of experience in business analysis, with at least 2 years in leadership or director-level role or in a related field. Experience managing a team of business analysts is strongly preferred. Business analysis professional-level certification (e.g., CBAP) is required; additional business analysis certifications are highly desirable, as is ITIL, CAPM, PMI-ACP certifications. Relevant experience in a large state institution of higher education is desirable. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Performs complex and highly advanced managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning to bridge the gap between IT and the business of Sam Houston State University. Responsible for the successful delivery of IT solutions to campus partners, including the development of parameters for successful IT systems, the oversight of their operations, and consultations provided on what kind of features or modifications would best serve SHSU’s strategic goals. Provides leadership and guidance to staff, ensuring best practices in business analysis are followed and continuously improved.
Primary Responsibilities:Develops and implements the strategic vision for Business Technology Solutions (BTS), ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Oversees business analysis initiatives and technology solutions to meet strategic priorities and serves as a key advisor to senior leadership on technology strategies. Leads and mentors the Business Analyst (BA) team, fostering collaboration, professional development, and continuous improvement. Ensures consistent application of business analysis methodologies and tools while refining processes to address complex business needs. Facilitates collaboration between BTS, campus partners, and stakeholders to deliver customer-centric solutions. Manages resource allocation, risk, and budgets, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational policies. Acts as a point of escalation for issues, oversees governance and reporting mechanisms, and drives process improvements to enhance efficiency. Continuously evaluates and improves business analysis processes, tools, and methodologies. Promotes innovative practices and represents BTS in strategic discussions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requires occasional travel to meet with stakeholders or attend conferences. May be required to work extended hours during peak university activity.
This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
