Job Summary

Faculty workload at Dalton State College consists of the following four components: (1) teaching, (2) service, (3) research (or other form of scholarly or creative achievement) and/or professional development, and (4) student success activities.

Thanks to outstanding community support, the School of Arts and Sciences has state-of-the-art facilities and equipment for teaching undergraduates and conducting student-faculty research. The facilities include a cadaver lab, turtle assurance colony, and specialized instrumentation for biochemical and genetic analysis. Faculty have the use of undergraduate research laboratories, diverse habitats close to campus, an observatory, and two large greenhouses. Duties include advising and mentoring students, keeping office hours, developing curriculum, assessment of student learning, providing service to the campus and community, and undertaking professional development. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, off-campus, or online courses.

The start date for this position is August 1, 2025. Review of applications will begin February 1, 2025. This position will remain open until filled.

Salary is commensurate with educational experience.

Responsibilities

·Teach courses at the undergraduate level. The teaching load will consist of 27 to 28 credit hours per academic year

·Advise students using Banner/DegreeWorks each semester for the subsequent semesters, assist with graduation applications, mentor students, and assist with career placement

·Actively participate and serve on committees at the College, School, and community

·Participate in other appropriate service and professional activities related to the field of expertise

·Engage students in research projects

Required Qualifications

• Applicants must hold an earned Masters degree from an accredited college in the specified field or a closely related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

• College classroom teaching experience

• Earned doctorate

• Experience or interest in supervising undergraduate research

• Experience in teaching Anatomy and Physiology
