Position Summary
The University of Alabama School of Music is seeking to fill vacancy of Assistant Professor of Music Education specializing in Choral Music Education. This is a full-time, nine-month appointment, tenure-eligible position.

Detailed Position Information
The University of Alabama School of Music is seeking to fill vacancy of Assistant Professor of Music Education specializing in Choral Music Education. This is a full-time, nine-month appointment, tenure-eligible position.

Primary duties include teaching undergraduate music education courses, such as choral/vocal methods, vocal lab for choral and instrumental students, and introductory music education classes. Additional teaching assignments at the graduate or undergraduate level may be included based on interest, expertise, and the needs of the Music Education Department and School of Music. Candidates must also maintain an active scholarly profile, supervise interns, advise students, and serve on department and college-level committees.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in music education (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) or be ABD with a completion date no later than August 15, 2025. Candidates should have at least five years of full-time teaching experience as a state-certified choral music educator, a strong record as an effective middle school choir director, classroom teaching experience with college students, and a well-defined research agenda.

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include an emerging national reputation as a teacher and scholar, experience teaching additional grade levels, success in recruiting students, and a record of publishing and/or conference presentations.
