The duties of the Vocational Nursing Instructor include instruction in the classroom, skills lab, and clinical instruction. The instructor will supervise students during their enrollment.
The instructor will teach at the Jasper Extension Campus and will receive program guidance from the Vocational Nursing Program Coordinator and the Chair of the Allied Health Department. The instructor will also serve on assigned committees, advise and recruit students. Continue professional development. Performs other related duties as required.
Candidates for the Vocational Nursing Instructor position must be a Registered Nurse, have an associate degree in nursing, and a license to practice nursing in the State of Texas. Must be a Registered Nurse and have a current license to practice in the State of Texas.
Three (3) years of nursing experience following graduation from an approved nursing program.
Physical Requirements must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, speak, listen, and see. The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift, push, pull and carry objects.
Occasional Travel required. Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Normal classroom and lab setting. Some online teaching may be required. Clinical experiences are typically performed in the hospital, community setting, nursing homes and simulation lab. Some hazardous conditions may exist.
More than three (3) years of teaching experience. Experience in public speaking, and intermediate skills in using Microsoft Office Word and PowerPoint.
Experience using the BlackBoard Learning Management System.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or higher is preferred.
Commensurate with experience plus benefits, non-tenure track
