Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Counselor Education and Student Affairs at Kutztown University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning Fall 2025.
Kutztown University offers CACREP-accredited graduate programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling, and Addictions Counseling. Responsibilities would include teaching core courses in clinical mental health, advising students, clinical supervision, scholarship, and professional service/leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education or a related discipline by start of fall semester classes, or ABD with terminal degree completed by December 31, 2026. Licensed or license eligible as a Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania; must obtain PA licensure within one year of hire A clear identity as a Professional Counselor with a background in clinical mental health Appropriate record of teaching at the collegiate level A successful interview and classroom demonstration or its equivalent
Preferred:
- Evidence of scholarly potential/productivity Graduated from a CACREP-accredited institution Ability to teach the CACREP common core curriculum areas At least two years of teaching experience at the collegiate level Teaching experience at the graduate level

Located on 325 acres in Kutztown (population:4,500), the university is 20 miles from both Reading and Allentown, 90 miles from Philadelphia and 100 miles from New York City. LVI International Airport is 25 minutes from campus. Currently, 10,193 students are enrolled at the university from 26 states and 51 nations. About half of the undergraduates live in residence halls; the rest live at home or in nearby apartments.
