Position Summary:
Henderson State University invites applications for the position of Admissions Counselor. The Department of Admissions seeks a dynamic, innovative, and visionary individual to serve in a public relations and informational role with prospective students, their parents and high school counselors.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The successful candidate will need excellent interpersonal communication skills, excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking, excellent organization skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision; and be proficient in a variety of Google Apps and the Office Suite.
Extensive travel is required with some overnight trips; candidates must have a valid driver's license and qualify to drive on state business.
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Occasional special events after hours or on the weekend.

Minimum Qualifications:
An earned baccalaureate degree in an academic field from an accredited institution of higher education.
Two (2) years’ experience in public relations and/or the higher education environment is preferred.

Arkansas State, founded in 1909, is the second-largest university in the state. It is located on Crowley’s Ridge in Jonesboro, the largest city in eastern Arkansas and the economic hub of the region. Arkansas State University operates as a member of the Arkansas State University System based in Little Rock and offers degrees at the doctoral, specialist, master’s, bachelor, and associate levels. Arkansas State is home to eight undergraduate colleges: Agriculture, Engineering and Computer Science; Education and Behavioral Science; Neil Griffin College of Business; Liberal Arts and Communication; Nursing and Health Professions; Sciences and Mathematics; and University College. While it does not award degrees, the Honors College is a component of the university’s academic structure. The Department of Military Science provides programs for students who aspire to be U.S. Army officers.

The Arkansas State University System is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees appointed by the Governor of Arkansas to serve staggered seven-year terms. The trustees hire the system president, approve the curriculum, annually approve an operating budget, and establish policies for the efficient and effective operation of the institutions.
