Job Details
The Dental Clinic Specialist is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dental clinic within Portland Community College’s Dental Sciences department. This role ensures the efficient functioning of clinical and laboratory spaces by managing inventory, ordering and maintaining equipment, and sterilizing dental instruments.
Additionally, the Specialist serves as the infection control expert, implementing and monitoring best practices in the clinic. As the HIPAA compliance administrator for the College’s only clinic that treats patients, which is free and open to the public, the Specialist ensures compliance with HIPAA, record-keeping, and healthcare regulations.
This individual plays a vital role in the education and clinical training of dental hygiene and dental assisting students, supporting faculty and professional dentists in the clinic’s daily operations, while fostering an environment conducive to learning and patient care.

Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.Successfully oversee daily clinic operations, ensuring smooth coordination of inventory management, equipment maintenance, and instrument sterilization; Proactively address operational challenges to minimize disruptions and maintain a high-functioning clinic environment.Maintain compliance with infection control protocols, HIPAA regulations, OSHA requirements, and other relevant federal, state, and local guidelines; Develop, implement, and regularly update clinic policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with current industry and regulatory standards.Provide effective guidance and evaluation during student rotations, fostering skill development and professionalism; Deliver thorough training to faculty, staff, and students on clinical safety, bloodborne pathogens, and equipment use.Maintain accurate records of inventory and budget, ensuring all resources, including materials and equipment, are procured, tracked, and utilized efficiently; Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring uninterrupted clinic and lab activities.Actively participate in curriculum development, Dental Advisory Committee meetings, and accreditation preparation activities to align clinical operations with program goals; Foster clear and effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, and external partners, to ensure a cohesive and inclusive clinic environment.Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in any field is required. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.Certificate in Dental Assisting or Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene from a CODA-accredited program.Current certification as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) in good standing.A minimum of 3 years of related dental experience and/or training.Position Grade5Starting Salary Expectations$71,174.00 (Step 1) to $76,243.00 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.Position Grade Salary Range$71,174.00 to $123,415.00 Annual SalaryFTE1PCC BenefitsPCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC currently fully funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

Physical demands include standing for extended periods, carrying equipment and supplies, reaching overhead, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds.

The ASR contains current security and safety-related policy disclosure statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information and resources, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains crime statistics for Clery Act crimes which occurred on PCC properties for the last three calendar years. Paper copies of the ASR are available upon request at all Department of Public Safety offices.
Special Conditions for this position:
This position has been identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). Campus Security Authorities must immediately report Clery Act crimes that occurred on Portland Community College’s Clery geography on the Crime Incident Report (CIRTrac™) located on the Department of Public Safety’s Clery Act compliance webpage. Following entry of a report on CIRTrac™ PCC’s Clery Specialist will (1) analyze the report for issuance of a timely warning or emergency notification; and (2) will determine if the report should be included in the annual statistical disclosures. The Clery Specialist shall annually assign CSAs online Clery Act training to ensure they are provided proper training to fulfill their reporting responsibilities required by the Clery Act and PCC’s Clery Act policy.
