Position Summary

Michigan State University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate that will take an active part in the National Predictive Modeling Tool Initiative (NMPTI) for cotton disease management. The successful applicant will also be actively involved in collaboration with multiple laboratories in the southern Cotton belt including but not limited to processing samples from spore traps, summarizing data, and assisting with model development that may predict disease. The successful applicant will be responsible for processing and analyzing pathogen levels using molecular diagnostics, modeling pathogen epidemics, and writing manuscripts related to target spot and areolate mildew.

The position will be located in East Lansing, Michigan and it will be co-directed with Dr. Alejandro Rojas and Dr. Terry Spurlock

Required Degree

Doctorate -Plant pathology or a related field

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in Plant pathology or a related field at the commencement of the position

Desired Qualifications
  • A background in plant pathology, molecular diagnostics, and preferably epidemiology and management research
  • Expertise in long-term ecological data analytics and modeling, and proficiency in statistical analysis
