Medical Billing Supervisor

Position Summary

The Medical Billing Supervisor oversees the daily operational management of the HCI Centralized Billing Office (CBO) team for the complete range of revenue cycle functions. Key responsibilities include supervising operational processes, managing personnel, providing ongoing training, producing insightful reports, and handling administrative tasks to support superior accounts receivable (AR) management for our medical services.

This role requires a strategic focus on optimizing revenue cycle operations, including data analytics, report generation, and dashboard management, to drive continuous improvement. The Supervisor will also audit charge capture practices to secure the highest level of medically necessary charges, leveraging proficiency in systems such as AthenaHealth and Epic. Success in this role depends on the ability to work cohesively with the CBO team, peers, and cross-departmental partners, ensuring collaborative, high-quality revenue cycle outcomes.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school in Business and Office Management; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supervision, office management, budget preparation, financial and administrative record-keeping; experience in word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, and/or web page design or presentation software; or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; and may require one to three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, and RCM systems as needed
  • Highly organized, detail-orientated, a strong work ethic, and demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate initiative in addressing challenges and devising innovative solutions to enhance revenue cycle processes, often anticipating needs before they arise.
  • Ability to assess data and operational workflows to identify improvement opportunities that align with broader revenue cycle goals.
  • Experience utilizing both AthenaHealth and/or Epic electronic health records (EHR) systems to manage and optimize revenue cycle workflows is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of coding standards, regulations, and best practices—CPC certification is highly valued. This expertise supports accurate charge capture and effective auditing processes to ensure the highest level of medically necessary charges, aligning with compliance standards.
