Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college/university with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related field.

Previous direct experience with Employee Relations, Employee Onboarding, recruiting, the development and presentation of supervisor/employee training, and/or the implementation of strategic HR initiatives. Experience with Extension is also a bonus.

Position Summary:

NOTE: This is a full-time appointment. There is potential to house the position at one of the other UGA Campuses located in Griffin, GA, or Tifton, GA.

The HR/EEO/OD Professional provides a wide range of professional services to the UGA community regarding benefits, employee relations, compensation, training and development, onboarding, and employee services, and/or workforce planning and recruitment. Responsibilities typically include the interpretation and explanation of policies and procedures, and staying abreast of current federal, state, and local laws related to one’s functional area.

Physical Demands:

Duties/Responsibilities:

Employee Relations:

  1. Provides effective consultation to the college and County Extension leadership in the development, investigation, and implementation of coaching and performance management discussions. Develops effective and legally appropriate performance memos/documentation/performance improvement plans. Participate as appropriate in disciplinary proceedings including final warning discussions and/or separation discussions.
  2. Provides leadership on issues pertaining to employee relations and dispute resolution, serving as a knowledgeable consultant for Extension supervisors and others in conducting difficult conversations. Ensures that where problems/issues become disciplinary actions or grievances, that employees and supervisors are aware of the procedures to be followed
  3. Manage personnel issues within the college and Extension, and coordinate with the College’s Human Resources Director and/or University Human Resources department, UGA EOO office, or UGA Office of Legal Affairs.
  4. Becomes proficient and remains up-to-date on UGA policies and procedures, federal and state laws in order to provide effective consultation to management, supervisors, and employees. Effectively communicates new policies or changes to existing policy or practice.
  5. Develops internal processes to support effective onboarding, information regarding UGA policies and benefits, exit interviews, etc.
  6. Facilitates conflict resolution conversations between the college and Extension employees to improve effective communication and team dynamics.
  7. Develops and facilitates training including performance management, non-discrimination and anti-harassment, benefits information, etc.
  8. Consults with employees and supervisors regarding FMLA, ADA, Worker’s Compensation, Short and long-term disability, and shared leave. Provides direction about documentation, processes, return-to-work, benefits and compensation during leave. Facilitates communication between employees and supervisions as necessary.
  9. Provide information to Extension supervisors and College administrators on exit interviews and separation notices upon employee terminations and retirement.
  10. Consult with/provide training to employees on issues related to the work environment.

  1. Conduct internal reviews; support AA (Affirmative Action) Audits as required by USDA Compliance Review procedures.
  2. Prepare for Federal audits and aid in implementation strategies.
  3. Promote equal opportunity and non-discriminatory treatment for all staff in all aspects of their employment.
  4. Coordinate opportunities for on-line training opportunities for faculty and staff.
  5. Work in cooperation with College and University resources to provide professional development opportunities.
  6. Advise management on organizing, preparing, or implementing recruiting and retention programs.
  7. Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
  8. Become proficient and remain up to date on UGA policies and procedures, and federal and state laws to provide effective consultation to management, supervisors, and employees. Effectively communicates new policies or changes to existing policies or practices.
  9. Perform a variety of employment activities including, but not limited to, onboarding, evaluating positions, assisting with recruitment, or reviewing background investigations.
  10. Provide professional consulting services to university employees, supervisors, and management regarding human resources-related issues.
  11. Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting, and administering contracts, and helping resolve work-related problems.
  12. Assist CAES Human Resources Director as needed.
