Dean of Students Coordinator
Dean of Students Office
St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Dean of Students Coordinator. The Coordinator provides case management and intervention for students with welfare of conduct concerns. This role will live on campus, work with the Dean of Students Office and participate in the after-hours on-call rotation to support students in need of afterhours conduct and welfare assistance. The Coordinator will also assist the Dean of Students Office in training community members about our processes related to case management, intervention and follow-up. Additionally, this position will provide outreach and consultation to the campus community (students, faculty, and staff) and will work very closely with other university personnel.
For consideration, graduation from a four-year college or university required. Master's in progress or completed Master's degree in a related field would be helpful. Preferred training or experience working in a university setting or with a young adult population. Knowledge of and previous experience with confidentiality. Working knowledge of principles of de-escalation and mediation methods and training. Knowledge/training in multicultural issues and the ability to work in a diverse community. Working knowledge FERPA, Clery, and Title IX. Excellent interpersonal communications skills-in person, in writing, and via technology. Highly developed organizational and time management skills. Ability to work congruently within the mission of the university, division and department. Must possess the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
- Serves as direct liaison to campus partners for the purpose of addressing concerns about student behaviors, in and out of the classroom.
- Provide follow-up to screenings and assessments to determine student's needs and formulate and recommend action plans.
- Assist in maintaining and managing student information and records.
- Participation in the University Strategic Priorities and Student Affairs initiatives.
- Prepare and consult with the Office of Global Engagement on pre-departure students who have been accepted for study abroad.
- Conduct Welfare Assessments for students involved in sexual discrimination cases.
- Conduct educational conversations with students who may be acting behaviorally in ways that are detrimental to our community.
- Develop, implement, and support interventions, sanctions, and response plans to student behavioral concerns.
- Assist in maintaining and managing student information and records in Maxient, to include the timely processing and assigning of reports and maintaining online files related to student follow-up.
- Serve as an investigator and assist on going case management of cases of sexual or gender-based violence, harassment, and discrimination.
- Assist the Dean of Students Office in identifying and working with students who are late in completing conduct sanctions.
- Serve in the on-call rotation after hours and on weekends.
- Management in collaboration with campus partners, of the emotional support animal process, and respond to non-compliance animal policy concerns
- Other duties as assigned
