Summary

The Tulane University Center for Brain Health (TUCBH) in the Center for Sport at Tulane University is a clinical care and research center for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Physiological conditions, and Behavioral Health (BH) conditions such as post-traumatic stress, depression and anxiety. The primary focus of the TUCBH is to care for former military personnel who have separated from active duty, with special consideration for those who were separated with "Other Than Honorable" or "Dishonorable"discharge status due to TBI or BH conditions.

The TUCBH also serves civilian adults who have sustained mild to moderate TBI and are experiencing ongoing neurological problems and cognitive, physical, and behavioral conditions. The TUCBH provides interdisciplinary care for adults experiencing persistent effects of TBI. This includes comprehensive multidisciplinary assessment and an Intensive Outpatient Program that integrates conventional medicine with complementary and alternative treatment modalities.

Tulane University Center for Brain Health's (TUCBH) Clinical Navigator will work within a team setting to assess patient clinical needs at entry to the Center. The role of Clinical Navigator will be to complete an extensive medical record review and an intake assessment interview with patients to determine if they are appropriate for participation in the TUCBH program. This position will work closely with the Director of Clinical Operations and also communicate with the TUCBH clinical team regarding TBI and psychosocial history to include at-risk social and behavioral patients entering the clinic.

The position will also assist with the overall mental health component of the Center for Sport.  Responsibilities may include: clinical and coordination of services management, patient assessment, treatment planning and coordination, multidisciplinary staffing, case management and ongoing program monitoring and development.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered nurse with current license or bachelor's degree in biological science, nursing, health, human services, psychology, counseling, social work, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • One year direct experience working with individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury
  • One year direct experience in neurological rehabilitation services' philosophy and practice
  • Two years direct experience with populations in a military or veteran setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master's degree from an accredited institution as a RN or in Social Work
