The College of Business (COB) has been AACSB accredited for over 40 years. We offer BSBA, MBA, and MSA degrees and our School of Hospitality Management offers both a BS in Hospitality Management and an MS in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality. Additionally, the Miller School of Entrepreneurship offers a BS in Entrepreneurship. We are one of the largest Colleges of Business in the state with approximately 4,600 undergraduate and 900 graduate students. To date, the COB has approximately 150 faculty members of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, and application of knowledge. A strategic goal of the college is to create an environment where the faculty, staff, and students can thrive and be personally and professionally respected.

The Miller School of Entrepreneurship (Miller School) resides in the College of Business (COB) at East Carolina University. Located in the Isley Innovation Hub, the Miller School has a significant impact in fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the campus. Major curricular and cocurricular programs include a BS in Entrepreneurship degree, undergraduate Entrepreneurship Certificate, Summer Innovation Academy, and the Pirate Entrepreneurship Challenge competition. It also serves as the home unit for the Crisp Small Business Resource Center. The Miller School has been ranked a Princeton Review Top 50 undergraduate program for the past five years and won the USASBE Model Emerging Program Award in 2021.

Job Duties:
The successful candidate will be expected to lead the Miller School of Entrepreneurship. This innovative leader will have oversight for the BS in Entrepreneurship degree and Entrepreneurship Certificate programs, as well as multiple co-curricular programs. Additional duties include teaching (1/1 load), managing Miller School of Entrepreneurship faculty and staff, student recruitment, fundraising and donor relations, strategic planning and budgeting, communications and branding, and other duties necessary to lead a successful and vibrant entrepreneurship school. In addition, the Director will have oversight for the Crisp Small Business Resource Center and Isley Innovation Hub, a 15,000 square feet campus wide innovation space. The Miller School of Entrepreneurship Director serves as chair of the Isley Operating Committee.

The successful candidate will receive a twelve-month faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Management within in the College of Business. The Director will also be the recipient of the J. Fielding Miller Distinguished Professorship. The responsibilities of this professorship are focused on providing highly effective leadership and fulfilling the strategic goals of the Miller School of Entrepreneurship.

Minimum Education/Experience:
A terminal degree from an appropriately accredited institution, in business or a business-related field. The candidate will possess the qualifications necessary to be designated a scholarly academic by AACSB standards. A minimum of 5 years of experience working with entrepreneurial programs or organizations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience related to the delivery of services and programs in higher education or the corporate sector related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and small business development is required. The candidate must have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and research, strong verbal and written communication skills, experience managing innovation spaces, prior record of effective fundraising and donor relations, and the ability and commitment to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, alumni, community partners, and entrepreneurs.
