Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

  • Position is required to work one shift per week from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., which will fall on a weekday between Monday and Friday.
  • In addition to the typical 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. workday, this position requires evening and weekend hours at department sponsored programs and attendance at regional and national professional development seminars and conferences.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director for Community & Student Engagement will support student success by leading experiential learning and high impact practice initiatives. This role will support UTA’s robust community through strategic guidance of interfaith and community-based initiatives. This role will also enhance student organization’s success through developing workshops for executive boards and members

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide program management and assessments for interfaith initiatives, including the UTA Interfaith Council, Interfaith ERG development, UTA Reflection Room, and outreach to faith and non-faith-based communities at UTA and the Greater Dallas-Fort Worth.
  • Organize greater community collaborative events, such as Stomp Wars. Coordinate national heritage month cultural celebrations.
  • Collaborate on the oversight of the UTA Intercultural Student Programming Board.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to develop new and expand existing experiential learning opportunities, including the annual Alternative Breaks collaboration with the Leadership Center.
  • Advise and co-advise cultural student organizations. Maintain high impact practices and enhance student org development through workshops and leadership trainings.
  • Supervise full-time coordinator position, graduate assistant(s) and student assistant(s).
  • This includes holding weekly meetings, professional development, delegating tasks/responsibilities, and staff accountability.
  • Oversee marketing initiatives to increase participation.
  • Responsible for budget management, assessment, tracking and reporting.
  • Serve on division and campus communities to advance initiatives related to student success.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and/or relevant experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working in event planning, training, and higher education environment.
  • Ability to utilize independent thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree and direct experience leading or supporting student success initiatives in the higher education environment.
  • Experience planning and executing events.
  • Experience with budgets, assessment, and program development.
  • Supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Licenses: Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License.
  • Applicant selected must provide a current three-year (3) Driving Record from the current state of residence.
  • If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver’s License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to drive a 15-passenger van to transport students to meetings and conferences.
