Job Description Summary
Adjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on-going development of instructional strategies that meets the needs of students and employers and promote student success.

Job Description

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Learning Facilitation - Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement. Create learning experiences that integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, such as hybrid, in-person, virtual, and on-line course delivery.

Assessment - Assess student learning and provide regular feedback to help students be successful. Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and learning and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence.

Classroom Management - Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/engagement evaluation.

Team Participation - Support the college by engaging with the division, department, and team members, as well as staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.

Business & Community Engagement - Build and maintain ongoing relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners. Proactively promote the College and our programs.

Student Success & Support - Serve as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students be successful. Professional Development - Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices and teaching through professional development activities, networking with regional industry leaders, and the integration of new techniques and technology. Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation.

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

1. Bachelor's Degree in related and appropriate field. (Based on experience and expertise, an individual with an Associate Degree or equivalent and willingness to obtain a Bachelor's Degree within specific timeframe may be considered), and

2. Verifiable, documented Electrical Apprenticeship completion and seven years of occupational experience in the field of the program or programs being taught, of which at least one year shall be within the last five years. (One year of related occupational experience may be waived with at least two years of post−secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years), or

3. Master Electrician Certification required.

4. Experience in commercial, residential, and industrial electrical work.

5. Teaching or training experience is desirable.

6. Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum and customized training.

7. Upon hire, must maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.

10. Demonstrated development of course materials and assessments of student learning.

11. An educational philosophy which places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery, and evaluation of courses.

12. Willingness to take risks and try new things.

13. Willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.

14. A commitment to the mission, purposes, and values of the college.

15. Competence in the use and application of electrical lab-related instructional equipment.

16. Thorough understanding of the Construction and Industrial Electrician industry.

17. Willingness to work a non-standard schedule as required to meet the training needs of the Apprenticeship training/Industry employed adult worker.

18. Ability to cooperate and assist staff members in other disciplines within an all encompassing apprenticeship education environment.

Additional Information

Hourly pay rate: $45.00 per hour.

Pay is based on a multitude of factors, including experience, qualifications, education, relevant certifications, internal equity, and market data.

Adjunct instructors are hired on a per course basis. The total hours for an adjunct instructor range from approximately 3 hours per week to no more than 8 hours per week. Hours vary and can include both day, evening, and weekend classes. Courses are taught in traditional classroom and alternative delivery formats.
