Salary: $77,000 to $84,000 Annually (salary commensurate with education and experience)
The Department of Accounting and Finance at Westfield State University invites applications for a position in Accounting at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level with a beginning start date of September 2025. The successful applicant in this tenure track position will teach accounting courses at the undergraduate level and will also be expected to teach in the Master of Science in Accounting program. There are teaching needs in all areas, with specific needs in Auditing, Taxation, and Managerial Accounting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:
- Westfield State University is proud to be a teaching university, where faculty are encouraged to develop innovative pedagogy for the classroom.
- The teaching load is 24 credits each year, typically 12 credits each semester.
- Candidates are expected to provide excellence in teaching across different modalities including face-to-face, online, and hybrid classes.
- In addition to the development and teaching of undergraduate courses, faculty are expected to engage in scholarly activity, which can take many different forms.
- Faculty provide academic advising and other support to students.
- Opportunities to advise student research are available and encouraged.
- Faculty are also expected to offer service to the department, University, and community.
- Opportunities for teaching summer courses exist.
The Department of Accounting and Finance at Westfield State University hosts BSc in Accounting, BSc in Finance as well as a one-year Master of Science in Accounting programs.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Accounting, or related field, with a total of at least 60 graduate credits, preferably from an AACSB accredited institution
or
- Doctoral degree in Accounting or related field, preferably from an AACSB accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
- Relevant professional certification (included, but not limited to, CPA, CMA, and CIA certifications) and relevant industry experience
- Prior experience and/or willingness to teach in the areas of Auditing, Taxation, and Managerial Accounting
- Professional experience in the areas of Auditing, Taxation, and/or Managerial Accounting
- Candidate must have the ability and be willing to develop linkages with the business community
- Active participation in professional organizations

Salary:
Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies. State job specifications may be found on the Department of Higher Education's webpage.
