Job Summary

The Engagement Resident Assistant (RA/VA) is a key factor in breathing life into the building and making a positive difference in their peers' lives. This role requires someone that can balance their time and work well autonomously. Available for programming creation and carrying out on a large and small scale. The Engagement RA should be an advocate for campus resources and activity. Strong skills in assisting students with finding their place on campus, taking residents to events in Housing buildings and across campus, helping them find a student organization that fits their needs, and helps them make their mark at UWG. Engagement RAs and Operations RAs have programming and on-call responsibilities for Engagement RAs; more time will be spent on programming. On-call responsibilities will be majority weekends with Housing and campus events obligations. All RAs must be flexible and creative in meeting the residents¿ needs by serving as a mediator, referral agent, advisor, community developer, educator, friend, and active, a positive campus role model.

Required Qualifications

1. Residential Campus Experience: Have at least two semesters of UWG residence hall living experience or have a comparable living experience at another institution.

2. Attitude: Positive attitude and willingness to step in and help with department efforts.

3. Availability: Understanding that on-call and desk hour will be most of your role and time commitments on the weekend will be necessary. 4. Completed at least 30 college credit hours at the time work begins.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Ability to strategize and ensure that every resident is involved and active on campus. Introducing residents to a wide variety of opportunities on campus. Assisting residents in searching for a place on campus that fits their interests.

2. Strong critical thinking skills, view problems and assigned tasks, and solve and seek solutions.

3. Self-starting ability, able to work independently.

4. Manage your time well to complete all necessary tasks, including tasks that come up last minute. You can pivot and adjust efficiently and effectively.
