ResponsibilitiesThis position serves as the coordinator of graduate admissions and other academic related activities for the School of Teacher Education (STE) graduate programs. Maintains all records of graduate students for admission to the degree programs within STE.
Graduate Admission tasks include but are not limited to: communication with applicants; calculating GPAs for faculty review; alerting faculty about strong completed applicant files for funding consideration; serves as liaison with OASIS office; maintain and evaluate admission statistics for the STE programs, including GRE score tracking, GPA tracking and related info; reporting on admissions activities to the STE faculty. Maintains student admission files and all related components for the STE Doctoral and Master's from initial contact as applicant through their graduation from the program and beyond. Converting admission files into permanent student files and maintaining updated and accurate inventory of these files. Recommends policies and procedures related to admission activities in STE. Organize the new graduate student orientation every fall which includes, all
arrangements from making the agenda, lining up speakers to room reservations.
Serves on the Graduate Studies committee as the academic staff representative to advise committee on admission information; take meeting minutes and assists with support package candidate selection and relays candidate information to Sr. Administrative Specialist. Creates admission decision letters and works with COE, OASIS and Office of Admissions to input these decisions. Responsible for keeping MS and Doctoral student handbooks updated with policy and procedure updates as required.
Serves as administrative contact for STE doctoral students and select online programs. Duties include but are not limited to: tracking of graduate student milestones; troubleshooting graduate student issues; relay funding and other pertinent information for graduate students by reaching out via email, phone call, in person meetings or Zoom.
Assists with recruitment activities for the STE programs to include attending college and career fairs on behalf of STE, maintaining a social media presence for STE. Monitors STE graduate program webpages for quality and accuracy. Also, manages graduate students list-serve. May create or initiate creation of graduate program recruitment materials.
Serves as backup to other programs as needed and during peak times. Additional duties related to position responsibilities and/or special projects as assigned by supervisor.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
Preferred Qualifications- Familiarity with graduate academic policies, including those related to admissions, enrollment, scholarships, and graduation.
- Prior experience working with graduate or undergraduate students in an advising or administrative capacity.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- University Policy Knowledge and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
- Knowledge of applicable computer software and operating systems.
- Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and etiquette.

The anticipated starting salary for this position is $44,056; commensurate with education and experience.
