Responsibilities
  • The Principal Faculty member has the primary responsibility of teaching, student evaluation, advising and mentoring.
  • Will serve as course director and teach courses in the PA program.
  • Guides scholarly pursuits of students and provides academic and career advice to students.
  • Participates in student selection and admissions process as well as participates in student orientation, recruitment events and student evaluations.
  • Serves as advisor to small cohort of students.
  • Remediates students in didactic and clinical areas when appropriate.
  • Also serves on program specific committees. Participates in scholarly activities resulting in publication and/or presentation at regional and national meetings.
  • Attends appropriate state and national professional meetings.
  • Participates in the development of grant applications, accreditation reports, and assessment.
  • Maintains clinical competency/practice and knowledge of current best practices within the profession. Participates in the development, monitoring, refining and assessment of plans to achieve the vision of the program, consistent with the broader missions and strategic directions of the College of Medicine.
  • Participates in program accreditation activities.
  • Assists with the implementation of quality assurance practices to ensure continual curriculum and program assessment and evaluation as stipulated by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Qualifications

PA-C (Master’s degree or higher), MD, DO, or Ph.D. in an appropriate field from an accredited institution with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Current NCCPA or physician board certification.

  • Knowledgeable in current practice standards and the roles of physician assistants.
  • Current valid Florida Physician Assistant or Physician license, or eligibility for Florida licensure.
  • Current Florida or Georgia Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications

Minimum three years clinical experience.

Anticipated Salary Range

Salary ranges between $120,000 - $130,000, commensurate with education and experience.
