Responsibilities

This position serves as the Grants Administrator in the Department of Psychology within the Florida State University College of Arts & Sciences directly supporting the work and research efforts of accomplished scholars

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising, training, and managing sponsored project support staff.
  • Managing workflow, establishing new grant management systems, and developing policies, procedures and long-range planning related to grants activities for the department.
  • Acting as the lead grant coordinator for the development and administration of pre- and post-award activity for sponsored research projects.
  • Developing, reviewing, and analyzing sponsored project documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Overseeing the initiation, approval, and audit of fiscal activities for contract and grant management of the Psychology Department.
  • Interpreting agency/solicitation specific guidelines to grantees to assist in proposal development.
  • Advising PIs on pre- and post-award actions and working with them on budget development and submission, long term planning, and grant closeout.
  • Reconciling fiscal activities for reporting purposes to ensure compliance with federal, state and university policies.
  • Analyzing, verifying, recording, and tracking transactions (revenue, transfers, expenditures) of a financial nature.
  • Coordinating personnel appointments and verifying effort certification is accurately reflected for PI's.
  • Preparing integrated financial and statistical reports, financial statements, and projections for short and/or long-term impact on grant funding.
  • Serving as a liaison between PI and appropriate University offices, as well as some external entities.

The Grants Administrator plays a crucial role in the success of the Department of Psychology. By serving in this position, you will contribute directly to the success of the academic teaching and research efforts at Florida State University!

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with interpreting and applying related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices is a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience including training and directing the work of others.
  • Experience compiling, reviewing, and reconciling data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
  • Experience performing accurately in a detail-oriented environment.
  • Effective communication skills, including by phone, email, and in-person.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prepare and monitor budget information.

What is a typical day in this position?

The Grants Administrator is responsible for the supervision and management of all contract & grant activities for the Department of Psychology. Activities include administering, tracking, and reporting of federal, state, local and private awards, assisting principal investigators with pre- and post-award initiatives and supervising sponsored project staff.

Anticipated Salary Range

The minimum starting salary for the position is $58,500. Anticipated starting salary will be offered commensurate with experience and qualifications.
