East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Veterans Program Analyst! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.
As the Veterans Program Analyst, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable evaluating, processing, and submitting enrollments to Veterans Affairs. You will be an active member of the Records & Registration team and will work closely with the Director to showcase ESU in various public events and assist with liaison duties. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your business administration background and strong working knowledge of Veteran affairs and Higher Ed regulations while consistently delivering excellent customer service. To be successful in this role, you must have great public speaking skills, be detail oriented, and have fine-tuned pivoting skills on multiple tasks. Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Veterans Program Analyst. This role requires up to 25% travel for local and or national events. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.
What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
- Assist in administering benefits for National Guard and Reservist i.e FTA and EAP; complete Veteran School Certifying Official training as required by the Veterans Affairs Office.
- Act as a point of contact for military-affiliated students and families. Serve as a liaison to the Admissions office and Enrollment Services assisting with the transition from deposited student to matriculated student.
- Support the Associate Registrar with resolving student-veteran record issues relating to Enrollment, Billing, Transfer, and Graduation; also respond inquiries regarding military benefits by email, telephone or in-person.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationship within the community to further the mission of the Veteran’s Center. Encourage participation from various University organizations and departments to assist in off-campus Veterans/Military-related events such as the Veteran’s Day Parade.
- Gather and analyze data for Veterans programs, develop solutions and recommendations, and develop reporting and presentations for program improvement and efficiency.
- Maintain, recommend, and/or implement systems to student academic records about biological, demographical, curricula updates and grade changes.
- Review requested adjustments to the regularly offered courses including changes to capacity, location, and instructor, obtain the Dean’s approval as appropriate, and ensure timely updates are completed.
- Assist with creating and updating academic course schedules. Integrate scheduling initiatives with student registration goals to improve student graduation timelines and student retention efforts.
- Create instructional documents for faculty and staff including training manuals displaying step by step directions and screenshots on Banner functions, workflow processes, and other instructions for registrar-related functions; conduct workshops as needed.
- Participate in the performance of the grade and transcript process; compile statistical information and prepare reports; manage the grade petition process, respond to inquiries concerning academic performance, and resolve problems regarding managing student records.
- What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
- Associate degree in business administration or related field; bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred
- 1+ year of experience in the delivery of technical services and assistance to customers in enrollment that involved the application of specific laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Able to quickly pivot between work assignments and customer service questions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Adeptness for deadline orientation with a focus on results.
- Strong process orientation with a focus on process improvement.
- Knowledge of public administration principles/practices.
- Knowledge of Veterans programs and projects preferred.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
- Experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams required.
