Job Summary

The University of North Georgia, Department of Counseling is currently searching for a 12-month tenure-track faculty member to serve as the Associate Department Head and perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the department the Master of Science in Counseling program. The Associate Department Head will be a direct support to the Department Head and will serve as the CACREP liaison for the Master of Counseling program. The Associate Department Head will maintain a reduced course load within the Department of Counseling.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting the department head with administrative tasks, such as scheduling, budgeting, and policy implementation, coordinating departmental meetings, preparation and submission of departmental reports and documentation.
  • Support curriculum development and review processes. Assist in the assessment and enhancement of academic programs. Participate in faculty recruitment, orientation, and evaluation processes. Provide guidance and support to faculty members in their teaching, research, and service activities. Facilitate professional development opportunities for faculty and staff.
  • Ensuring that the counseling department complies with all relevant regulations, institutional policies, and accreditation standards.
  • Assisting in overseeing the work of faculty, administrative support staff, and graduate assistants, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to best practices and ethical standards.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of curriculum and student success services and programs, using data to make informed decisions and improvements.
  • Assist in student recruitment, advising, and retention efforts. Address student concerns and provide support for academic development. Oversee student organizations and activities related to the department.
  • Assist in the development and management of the departmental budget. Oversee the allocation and utilization of departmental resources.
  • Assisting in overseeing the work of faculty, administrative support staff, and graduate assistants, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to best practices and ethical standards.
  • Working with other departments, faculty, and external partners to coordinate services and support for students.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the department's strategic plan. Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify and pursue funding opportunities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of CACREP standards, and the ability to monitor the maintenance of CACREP standards.
  • Requires a general working knowledge of the department's functional areas.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with staff, faculty, students, and community partners. Ability to oversee accreditation processes and clinical education.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.
  • Requires three years teaching experience in a CACREP accredited Counseling Program.
