Compensation and Benefits:
  • Starting Salary: $46,508.44 - $51,275.40 Annually
  • Generous Total Compensation: $91,852.49, including full benefits

  • Pasadena City College is seeking a dedicated Child Development Specialist to join our team! In this role, you will work primarily with infants, providing high-quality care, development, and educational instruction. You will also collaborate with other staff and contribute to a supportive and stimulating learning environment.

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend to children's basic needs, including feeding, dressing, and changing diapers
  • Develop and implement educational programs with appropriate goals and objectives for young children
  • Conduct activities that promote balanced instruction and opportunities for children to learn through play, observation, and questioning
  • Evaluate children's developmental needs, performance, social development, and physical health
  • Provide mentorship to field practice students in the Child Development Program
  • Organize center events and fundraisers
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and nutrition programs
  • Conducts parent conferences to discuss the performance of individual children

  • Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Child Development or a related field
  • Regular Children's Center Permit/Child Development Teacher Permit, or willingness to apply for the permit
  • One year of experience as a lead teacher in a child development program or in a co-operative education program.
  • Sixteen (16) semester units of course work in general education, including at least one course in each of the following areas: humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and science, and English.

  • Preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development or a related field
  • Direct teaching experience working with infants
  • Three years of experience in a lead teaching role or in a co-operative education program.
  • Experience with American Sign Language in early childhood settings
  • Work Schedule:

    Based on business needs between 7:45 AM and 5:00 PM (8 hours/day)
