Position overview
Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. See the following table for the current salary scale for this position:https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2024-25/july-2024-scales/t15.pdf. A reasonable estimate for full-time Lecturer positions is $68,247 - $112,802; salary is commensurate with teaching experience. Lecturer positions teaching one class in the summer is an 11% equivalent, with a reasonable salary range of $7,507-$12,408.
Percent time: Summer Sessions Lecturers are appointed at 11% in part-time positions that are weighed at 50%. Lecturers can teach more than one course at a time.

Position description
Interdisciplinary Studies Field Major (ISF) in the Undergraduate Division of the College of Letters and Science is an interdisciplinary major and a research-driven program of liberal education, one of the top-ranked personalized majors offered at US universities and colleges. ISF offers students the unique opportunity to develop an individualized cross-disciplinary research program that includes a course of study and a senior thesis. The course of study is made up of courses taken in the social sciences, the humanities, and/or the professional schools and colleges, alongside the required courses in ISF.
General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal's electronic resources for course management. ISF invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors with experience teaching interdisciplinary studies and international relations.

Basic qualifications (at time of application): must have an advanced degree or be enrolled in an advanced degree program at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Additional qualifications (by start date): Completion of advanced degree or an equivalent international degree. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred qualifications
Preferred Qualifications: A Ph.D. or equivalent international degree, and experience working with a diverse student population is preferred. College-level teaching experience in interdisciplinary studies and global internships is preferred. Knowledge of accessible technologies and universal design in instruction and online teaching is preferred.
