ResponsibilitiesMust possess a working knowledge of National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) legislation. Assists in the daily operations of the Institution’s Athletics Compliance Office with a concentration in the assigned NCAA Bylaws and in consultation with relevant University, Conference and NCAA regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, evaluating and detecting infractions, monitoring, documenting, educating, and developing best practices and procedures in assigned areas.
Serves as primary compliance liaison for assigned sport programs and administrative units within and/or outside the athletics department. Responsible for assisting in the investigation of known and/or alleged rules violations, as well as gathering necessary information to draft and submit waivers, secondary violations, and rules interpretations to the NCAA and/or ACC. Provides coaches, staff (inside and outside of the athletics department), student-athletes, and other entities responsible for compliance with NCAA and ACC rules with interpretation and information regarding regulatory compliance on a regular basis.
Assists with the Rules education program for the athletics department and all of its internal and external stakeholders to support the University’s athletics programs with NCAA and ACC rules compliance.
Manages the oversight of the Compliance Coordinator, including the training and monitoring of duties and tasks associated with the position. Coordinates the oversight of the graduate assistant student/internship program for the athletics compliance office, including the identification and selection of qualified individuals to fill that role as well as the supervision of individuals upon selection. Responsible for creating a comprehensive internship program with daily/weekly tasks and duties to be fulfilled within the graduate student/internship program.
Contributes to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by performing any other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QualificationsBachelors degree and four years of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to eight years. (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Requires experience having served in a full-time compliance role at a Division I institution, Division I conference, or with the NCAA.
