The IGNITE FSU program within the Office of Research seeks to fill the IGNITE Marketing & Communications Intern position.
IGNITE FSU is an early-stage technology startup incubator program focused on supporting life sciences, engineering, and biotechnology ventures. Located at IGNITE Tallahassee in Innovation Park, IGNITE works with entrepreneurs, researchers, and scientists to spur economic growth in Leon County by providing critical resources such as mentorship, specialized facilities, and education/training to increase the likelihood of success of its client companies. Funded by the NSF Accelerating Research Translation (ART) grant, IGNITE aims to strengthen the translational research infrastructure and culture at FSU and the broader Tallahassee community through the development and coordination of programs that improve entrepreneurial outcomes.
ResponsibilitiesThe IGNITE Marketing & Communications Intern will support marketing/communications, administrative, and operational functions within IGNITE FSU. Under the supervision of the IGNITE Marketing & Communications Manager, the position will contribute to the development and execution of marketing campaigns within the IGNITE FSU marketing and communications strategy, including the creation of social media content, email newsletters, and other marketing collateral. This position will also assist with event set-up, special projects, and other administrative tasks that support the purpose and mission of the IGNITE program.
Responsibilities of the IGNITE Marketing & Communications Intern includes:
- Draft relevant content and write copy for email newsletters, brochures, social media posts, and other marketing collateral
- Prepare flyers, infographics, social media and web graphics, promotional items, and other visual assets
- Monitor and manage media channels and support cross-promotional initiatives with program graduates and clients, ecosystem partners, community organizations, and government agencies
- Support with planning, preparation, set-up, and break-down tasks for events
- Assistance with operational and administrative tasks
- Other duties as assigned.
- Current Florida State University student studying marketing, communications, business, or similar with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be entering second year undergraduate or higher.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency with Canva or similar image editing applications.
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook
- Ability to adhere to standards of professional conduct and etiquette
- Experience with social media management tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social)
- Experience with website and web design platforms (Wordpress, InDesign)
- Experience with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and/or Premiere (or equivalent)
