The Aero-Propulsion, Mechatronics and Energy Center (AME) supports advanced research in aerospace and aviation, mechatronics (robotics), and sustainable energy engineering. The AME Building houses laboratories, equipment, offices, and other infrastructure necessary to carry out the university's research mission in several key areas seen as crucial to the economic development of the state and nation.
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for all purchasing and receiving activities. Track and record purchases, serve as p-card holder. Evaluate and solve problems related to vendor payments. Review and approve all department P-card holder purchasing weekly, as well as reconcile the P-card transactions monthly. Ensure all P-card holders receive the required training and follow university policies.
Serve as the center travel representative to oversee the travel functions, including processing travel authorizations and expense reports for all center travels in accordance with university, state, federal and sponsor specific policies, procedures, rules, and laws. Responsible for managing the departments travel cards, including ensuring all cardholders receive the required training and follow university policies.
Work with center faculty to periodically collect desired updates to the AME website, and then communicate those changes to the website administrator(s). Assist faculty in turning on classroom projectors and audio or other devices and report any issues with non-working equipment to FSU Classroom support. Plan, organize, coordinate, promote, and facilitate special events hosted on site. Schedule and maintain communication with speakers, vendors, and participants, coordinate, and monitor event timelines. Maintain center calendar of events held in the AME building. Other duties assigned by the supervisor and center directors related to the operations of the center.
Responsible for managing all procurement functions and serve as the travel representative for center faculty, research staff and students.
Greets and assists faculty, students and visitors, and ensures that the front desk is covered at all times. Assists and answers any general questions/concerns visitors may have in a kind and friendly manner, making sure they feel welcomed and leave with answers or direction.
Backup in case of overload, vacation, sickness, etc.
Pre-award Assistance
Preparation of needed paperwork for timely submission of proposals.
Serve as back up to Grants Compliance Analyst.
QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalency and three years of experience, or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to three years.
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor's degree and one year of experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to make purchasing decisions based on independent research and judgment.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and retrieve files from active or archive sources.
- Basic filing practices to include numeric and alphabetic systems.
- Knowledge of electronic data processing as it applies to purchasing activities.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of event planning and ability to coordinate, organize and evaluate meetings and/or events.
- Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and etiquette.

Starting salary is $36,250, commensurate with experience.
