The Manager of Programming and Competitive Sports applies industry knowledge and advanced understanding intramural and sport club program operations. Develops and administers policies and procedures for the effective and efficient operation of a comprehensive competitive sports program with over 25,000 participations annually; using specialized skills in the administration of large sport programs, officiating and leagues management to achieve results; Independently determines method for completion of new projects including determining proposal and review of annual competitive sports programming offerings, data analysis of annual participation data for decision making and leadership review, creating new revenue generation programs and program changes for intramural sports; receives guidance on overall area objectives; reserves facility space for competitive sports programs; administers and sets curriculum for captains meetings, treasurers trainings, presidents' meetings and other competitive sports trainings/meetings; assists in teaching sports officiating classes; expert in software used competitive sports area including Do Sports Easy, IM Leagues and Fusion, uses knowledge to set up infrastructure in software and train other staff; Conducts difficult and or complex conversations with participants in programs. Determines procedures for program participants conduct follow up for any incidents that occur during programs including fights, unsportsmanlike conduct etc. Supervises one FTE and one GTA.
Oversees the direction of programming, supervision, planning, execution, and annual assessment of Camp Recky Program, including admin support by applying industry knowledge and expertise to create successful model for camp a ten-week summer day camp for 200 campers a week held in the recreation centers. Sets annual goals for camps including financial metrics, staffing models and ratios, collects and disseminates data and statistics for enrollment camp program, ensures compliance with all state and university guidelines. Works closely with university stakeholders to ensure compliance with Minors Policy and ODJFS guidelines and minimize risk. Serves as back up as on-site staff member for Coordinator of Camp Programming and Coordinator Sports during camps program. Provides strategic goals for area while influencing peers and conducting high-level decision making for area. Conducts difficult and or complex conversations with parents of campers as needed for children having issues in camp. Determines procedures for camp participants conduct follow up for any incidents that occur during camp.
Serves as a specialized staff member with knowledge of programs for minors. Is the department owner of minors related processes for programming on campus. Serves as a resource to less experienced colleagues regarding facility requests to host events with minors through work with Office of Institutional Equity as needed, which requires the exchange of sensitive information.
Provides oversight for 10-15 sport clubs providing guidance and sharing expertise regarding set up of events, and meeting requirements to stay a sport club in good standing in good standing. May require nights and weekends; other duties as assigned
Additional Information:Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Recreational Sports or related degree required or an equivalent amount of education and experience; Six years of experience required.
Desired Qualifications
Masters degree desired; Intramural, Sport Club and Camp experience. experience with coordinating leagues, tournaments and events in Rec Sports setting desired; experience in training or teaching skills needed to officiate various sports desired and experience supervising student employees desired. Experience using Fusion, IMLeagues and or Do Sports Easy desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Experience running or working at a summer camp or program with minors.
Salary Range: $47,200-$56,000
