The Department of Natural & Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track, 9- month Assistant Professor of Biology position in Eagle Pass, Texas beginning August 2025.
Required:

• Ph. D. in Biological Sciences with a broad biology background. ABD applicants will be considered, but appointment will be at the instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2026.
• Two years of teaching experience (graduate student teaching experience accepted) in a broad range of undergraduate courses in biology.
• Excellence in classroom instruction is a priority.
• Commitment to grow the undergraduate biology program.
• In-person teaching and advising in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include the following:

• Teaching 12 semester credit hours per semester of face to face, hybrid, and online undergraduate courses in genetics, cell biology, animal behavior, evolution and advanced biology.
• Advising students and mentoring biology majors’ activities and organizations.

Other responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating progress in research.
• Participating in curriculum development and assessment.
• Engaging in service to the department, college, and university.

Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.

Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
