Department Summary
The Community Programs Office (CPO) was founded in 1970 and became departmentalized in 2003 within the Campus Life Division of Student Affairs. Originally based out of Dodd Hall, the CPO is now centrally located in the Student Activities Center, a space developed through the efforts of CPO student leaders as a result of the passage of the Student Programs Activities Resource Complex (SPARC) referendum in 2000.As UCLA's multicultural center, the Community Programs Office plays a vital role in supporting and uplifting the diverse communities on our campus. While the CPO serves as a welcoming space for cultural exchange and community-building, it also extends its mission to encompass a wide range of services and support systems that address the evolving needs of students.Our department is one of the most diverse and dynamic areas on campus, bringing together students from various backgrounds to learn from and support one another. The CPO is not just a place for students to find community; it also provides essential resources that help students navigate their academic, social, and personal journeys.We are committed to being an inclusive and accessible space for students from all backgrounds, including communities of color, the LGBTQIA+ community, undocumented students, students of all abilities, and students of all religious backgrounds. The CPO goes beyond fostering community-it actively works to meet the comprehensive needs of students through advocacy, program development, and direct support services. Position Summary
The Marketing and Technology Manager is responsible for the department's marketing, Basic Needs outreach efforts, and technological troubleshooting. The position oversees the public communications of the department, student support services, and Basic Needs outreach efforts by creating marketing materials and informational graphics, photography, videography, and other related media along with managing the department's social media and online presence (CPO and Basic Needs websites). Additionally, the position manages the departments' student technology staff that are part of the CPO Internship Program which assist in the designing of graphics and marketing materials for various departmental programming, events, community service projects, outreach projects, and academic success projects. The position provides essential troubleshooting support for the Computer Lab, Test Bank, and Departmental staff and students so that they can perform their daily tasks. The position also supports the purchasing of technology equipment to increase the efficiency of staff and is the intermediary with our outreach/advertising vendors and SAIT.

Salary & Compensation
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications
  • Requires interpersonal skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. (Required)
  • Experience developing and administering formal technical training to users at a variety of levels. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. (Required)
  • Experience working in a multicultural center or related space. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of unit's business processes. Working knowledge of organization computer requirements, recommendations and policies including security standards. (Required)
  • Working knowledge of desktop and business / technical support systems. (Required)
  • Demonstrated judgment to delegate / escalate issues appropriately. (Required)
  • Ability to work with students and staff from very diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops to enhance the leadership capabilities of student population. (Required)
  • Experience supervising student workers. (Required)
  • Knowledge of and skill in installing and troubleshooting computers and peripherals. (Required)
  • Expertise in use of Microsoft applications, web design, video editing software, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and vector illustration. (Required)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional nights and weekends. (Required)

In 15 of the 16 medical specialty areas examined, UCLA Medical Center ranked in the top 20.
