Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:JOB SUMMARY:The Research Assistant position will support the various research activities in the department of Institutional Assessment, Planning & Effectiveness (IAPE). The department is comprised of three distinguishing areas, 1) System Data & Reporting 2) Data Analysis/Analytics and 3) Assessment & Strategic Planning. The Research Assistant position will assist with acquiring data/ researching content from external data sources of statewide and national peers regarding several key datapoints. This will also include assisting with annual updates of office publications and business intelligence dashboards. This position will support the use of data analytics through the collaboration of quick poll administration and maintaining platform updates to student support resource content in key areas campus wide. The Research Assistant supports training opportunities of available university resources to campus-wide constituents.
This position will also support the completion of recurring State, Federal, and Institutions reports of varying student and employee data. Coordinates information from multiple data sources to track metrics to compare performance associated with goal attainment. Contributes to research on higher education trends, labor market trends, service area population growth, etc. Supports the use of analytics to make data‐informed predictions as it relates to recruitment, student persistence, course completion, graduation, etc.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Ability to comprehensively compile and analyze data. Highly skilled in multi-tasking, forward-thinking project prioritization, and effective communication.
- Supports departmental completion of annual State, Federal, and Institutional reports.
- Acquire, and compile common datasets from external data resources, such as IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System), Bureau of Labor Statistics, etc.
- Supports and provides training to campus partners of available data resources.
- Assist with the maintenance/monitoring of the data request log and analyze requests to recommend the creation of new dashboards.
- Collaborate with department personnel to create and analyze quick polls of student feedback.
- Liaise with campus partners, as needed to support data integrity updates and maintain accurate student resource information.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Hiring Range:$55,038.89 - $70,174.59

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of:
- Policies, procedures, and practices.

- Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.

Minimum of two (2) years of related administrative experience.
Preferred Experience:
- SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences)/SQL
- Power User of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Dashboard creation experience.
- Data analysis and reporting.
- Routine office environment.
- Sitting or standing in one location much of the time.
- Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects light weight may be required.
- Use of video display terminal.
