Description

The part-time Graphic Designer receives direction from the Executive Director of Design & Marketing to design communications and marketing projects as assigned for various media. Strong communication and technology skills are essential, as well as knowledge of design industry language and best practices. Part-time hours to be worked are flexible, however candidate will commit to and maintain a regular in-person schedule.

This is a part- time position, working up to 25 hours per week.

Examples of Duties

  • Applies department style guidelines and branding standards to all assigned projects, such as flyers, brochures, posters, certificates, signage, social media assets, web graphics, artwork, etc.
  • Work on multiple projects concurrently, maintains a project schedule/timeline within the department’s project management platform, attend project meetings, and keep open communication about deadline expectations and assigned workload.
  • Takes an established design and uses it to repurpose/expand on additional materials for a marketing campaign or college program, event initiative for recruitment/admissions/enrollment, etc. (e.g. Open House).
  • Use provided text, logos, photos, illustrations, brand elements, templates, libraries, etc., and work independently to create or update a design or layout for various media (print, digital, web, multi-media) to share with the executive director for review and approval.
  • Set up and format files for output or production per the intended use or distribution of project (such as print-ready PDFs, digital-ready graphics, interactive files, etc.).
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in graphic design or related field, or degree in progress required.
  • Minimum of two (2) year experience as a designer.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required (Work, Outlook, Teams).
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • High level of personal motivation, initiative and creativity
  • Strong customer service skills and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • A strong commitment to a diverse and comprehensive community college philosophy and a student-centered learning environment
  • Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners
  • Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment
