Instructor of Patient Care Technician

About the Job:
The Instructor of Patient Care Technician will prepare and teach courses in Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomy, Phlebotomy Clinical, CPR/First Aid, and Medical Terminology under the general supervision of the Coordinator of Patient Care Technician for campuses at Newport and Jonesboro. The Instructor of Patient Care Technician will guide students in the PCT program as they complete their training to ensure they gain the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain entry-level employment in their field of study.
The Instructor of Patient Care Technology must demonstrate patience, strong organizational, delegation, and interpersonal skills, and perform in a professional manner.
This position is a faculty appointment and will be housed on the Newport campus but will work on all ASUN campus locations as needed.
Qualifications:
• Unencumbered Practical Nursing License and able to practice in Arkansas
• A minimum of 1 year of experience working in long term care as defined by the Arkansas Office of Long Term Care regulations for Nursing Assistant Training Programs
• Current CPR/First Aid Instructor License or the ability to obtain within first six months of employment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Present PCT content lectures, classroom and skills lab activities consistent with the course syllabus
• Provide PCT students with timely information and feedback on his/her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework, and projects
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student and attendance performance
• Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of all school policies and actively participate in their implementation and enforcement
• Clinical attendance may be required on weekends.
• Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• REQUIRED: Unencumbered Practical Nursing License and able to practice in Arkansas
• REQUIRED: A minimum of 1 year of experience working in long term care as defined by the Arkansas Office of Long-Term Care regulations for Nursing Assistant Training Programs
• REQUIRED: Current CPR/First Aid Instructor License or the ability to obtain within the first six months of employment
• PREFERRED: ADN with a state RN license
• PREFERRED: Two years of clinical experience in long term care as defined by the Arkansas Office of Long Term Care regulations for Nursing Assistant Training Programs
• PREFERRED: Previous teaching at the community college level
• PREFERRED: Lab and EKG experience
RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT
Responsible for the maintenance of all departmental facilities and equipment.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Excellent communication skills are required. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals so others will understand; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from faculty, administration or the general public.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of unknown variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under direction of the Coordinator of Patient Care Technician, working from policies and general directives.
ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
PLANNING
Considerable responsibility with regard to general assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work, in addition, the work operations of a group of employees.
DECISION MAKING
Performs work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of significant importance, either of which would significantly affect the operations of the College.

Requires making decisions that impact the results of co-workers, clients or the College. Mistakes are not easily correctable and have serious consequences, require making decisions that affect organizational process, the financial resources, and/or the image and reputation of the organization.

Knowledgeable in related program and software.
