Job SummaryThe Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Savannah State University is seeking two full-time faculty as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice (tenure track) to begin on August 1, 2025. Criminal Justice is a popular discipline with our students, and it is one of the programs at SSU with an online degree option. We are seeking to increase the corps of instructors to expand our in-seat offerings and the online track.
The successful candidates will teach criminal justice courses including Introduction to Criminal Justice, Research Methods, Statistics, Crime Analysis, and Criminal Justice Management. The faculty will be expected to engage and be proficient in online course delivery, program and curriculum development, academic mentoring, student recruitment and retention, scholarly activities, and institutional service. Online and in person teaching experience is required.
NOTE: In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not offer sponsorship for employment visas.

Required QualificationsPh.D. in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited institution. Applicants with a Ph.D. in a related field: Political Science, Sociology, Forensic Science, J.D., etc., must have a Master's degree in Criminal Justice. ABD candidates are welcome to apply but must demonstrate evidence of degree completion within the first year of hire.
Preferred QualificationsPh.D. in Criminal Justice. Three years of online teaching experience at the collegiate level. Proficiency with program and curriculum development, student recruitment and program growth.
Proposed Salary$60,000 - $62,776 annually
