Job Details
The Chemistry Department at Rhodes College invites applications for a three-year position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor to begin in August 2025. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field by August 10, 2025 and must exhibit a firm commitment to teaching at a liberal arts college. Applications are welcome from candidates who specialize in any sub-discipline of chemistry or in interdisciplinary areas. The successful candidate must be able to teach quantitative analysis/analytical chemistry and the associated lab in a supportive, equitable, inclusive, and accessible manner. The position carries a six-course annual teaching commitment, with labs counting as a full-time teaching involvement, which could include introductory chemistry, introductory chemistry laboratory, or an advanced course in chemistry. Other opportunities to teach in the curriculum include a senior capstone in the candidate’s area of specialization. The successful candidate will teach, mentor, and advise students from varied backgrounds, experiences, and abilities, while thriving professionally among a diverse team of colleagues and contributing to both departmental and college-wide initiatives. The opportunity to engage undergraduate students in research is available.
