Position Summary:

The Research Projects Coordinator is a critical role in supporting the successful implementation and management of multiple projects within the Georgia Center for Developmental Science (GCDS). The incumbent will provide the Principal Investigator and research team comprehensive administrative, operational and logistical support. This role will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including research projects operations, project management, administrative support, progress reports, responsible and ethical research conduct, data reporting, resource development, and ensuring compliance with research protocols and regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Project Administration:

  • Oversee the implementation of research protocols for recruitment/retention and data collection.
  • Support the PI with overall laboratory operation and management.
  • Manage internal and external communications, including interactions with UGA departments, national funding agencies (e.g., NIDA-NIH, USDA), international partners (e.g., Hebrew University), state agencies, community leaders and liaisons to facilitate partnerships and collaboration.
  • Assist in recruitment of participants lab staff volunteers, and supervise community engagement coordinator.
  • Overseeing Human Subject implementations and protocols and IRB approval.
  • Assist Center Director in managing the laboratory team, including hiring, training, creating schedules, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Ensure employee compliance with institutional, collegiate, and departmental policies and procedures (e.g., OIRB, UGA HR, FACS OFHR, HDFS admin).
  • Assist the Center Director to effectively manage laboratory resources, budget, and facilities.
  • Ensure that the lab/center operates in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, including those related to research ethics, safety, and data protection.
  • Oversee any quality control operations related to the data collection, including human subjects’ approval and assisting with coordination of data collection teams.

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Draft and submit detailed progress reports multiple times per year.
  • Responsible for handling petty cash (i.e., incentives and pre-paid Clincards) and confidential financial information.
  • Monitor and evaluate the center’s grants performance against established goals (e.g., successful participant recruitment, assessment, and retention) and metrics.
  • Prepare reports for funding agencies and other stakeholders as needed.
