Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Part-Time Specialist IV, Learning, Engagement, and Development Center performs primarily standard and some advanced administrative duties. Duties include staffing the department welcome counter, receiving and logging information, preparing correspondence and basic documents, answering routine questions and inquiries, maintaining databases and tracking data. They are responsible for providing departmental support by processing department calendar reminders and session feedback and other department-wide support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Operate a variety of office equipment, such as a personal computer, printer, photocopier, scanner, or laminator
  2. Provide information & assistance with excellent service at the department front counter, assisting employees with professional development resources, department information, or general support needs
  3. Responsible for processing resource material check-outs to department visitors to include releasing/receiving materials, documenting all transactions, and processing semester data
  4. Provide relevant technical support for employees (with computers, printers, copiers, and scanners)
  5. Participate in developing program material, maintaining departmental records, department postings, and other documents such as sign-in sheets and completion certificates
  6. Create procedures for a variety of office duties to better streamline office functions
  7. Oversee Suite appearance through bulletin board postings, updated resources, necessary work requests, and general organization
  8. Submit marketing requests, facilities requests, and technology work requests for the department
  9. Oversee the department office supplies to include inventory upkeep and organization
  10. Assist with marketing and material distribution across campus, may require using a cart for delivery
  11. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with common office software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments
  • Ability to work well within a diverse population as well as autonomously
  • Ability to contribute positively to team dynamics and outcomes

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be enrolled at LSC-CyFair with a minimum of six hours college credit or
  • Must maintain good academic and disciplinary standing
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $15.85
