The Dean, Undergraduate Admissions is charged with developing and overseeing short- and long-term undergraduate enrollment plans and goals in alignment with Marquette University’s Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan. Leading a department of professional staff and student staff, this role deploys a data-informed strategy to enroll a cohort of talented and diverse new undergraduate students (first-year and transfer) that meets institutional enrollment goals. The Dean, Undergraduate Admissions leads departmental efforts while also prioritizing coordination and collaboration with all units on campus, e.g. Office of the President, Finance, Colleges, Graduate/professional programs, Athletics, Advancement, Alumni, Student Success, Division of Student Affairs, Office of International Education, the Division of Belonging and Student Affairs, etc., to achieve undergraduate enrollment targets and develop plans for long-term undergraduate enrollment success.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead University efforts to recruit a talented, diverse, and ultimately successful cohort of new undergraduate students. Develop and communicate plans that will generate the applicant and admit pool necessary to achieve enrollment targets for fall and spring entry terms.

2. Lead department of professional staff and student staff through direct and indirect supervision, articulating connection between institutional Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan and departmental expectations and planning. Develop and oversee implementation of data-driven strategies in the core areas including (but not limited to): domestic and international recruitment (first-year and transfer students), marketing & communication; campus visit experiences, operations, and community relations and outreach. Provide direct supervision to senior admissions leadership team. Supervision of staff to include but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc.

3. Contribute to and lead/coordinate, when requested, strategic planning efforts on campus connected to undergraduate enrollment including (but not limited to): short- and long-term undergraduate enrollment planning and projections; student success (retention and graduation); student belonging and well-being; graduate and professional enrollment; stewardship of resources; mission & ministry; and external engagement.

4. Present on- and off campus to external audiences (e.g. prospective and admitted students; families; Board of Trustees, alumni groups, President’s Council, parent groups, high schools; community-based organizations; etc.) to help enhance Marquette’s brand, recruit new students, and generate interest in future enrollment at Marquette.

5. Represent – or coordinate the representation of – the department of Admissions, Division of Enrollment Management, and the University to external organizations; coordinate Marquette’s participation in consortium travel and professional meetings to ensure staff is operating with working knowledge of industry best-practices for admissions and representing Marquette at events that will generate future enrollments (e.g. Jesuit Excellence Tours, National Catholic Colleges Admissions Association, National Association for College Admissions Counseling, Big East institutions, etc.)

6. Oversee departmental budget and develop plans to allocate resources strategically to fulfill enrollment goals. Liaise with Human Resources and Provost budget office to facilitate hiring, corrective action, departmental reorganization, and individual position review for all department staff.

7. Develop and maintain oversight of enrollment marketing strategy to ensure brand and messaging consistency through the communication funnel, on and off-campus events, web presence, and any other written or visual content from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

8. Provide admissions counseling services to individual students, families, and community-based organizations as needed. Administer holistic file review, scholarship review, and appeals processes for students seeking admission and scholarships.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A master’s degree with a minimum of eight years of related admissions experience or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 10 years of related admissions experience required.

Supervisory experience required.

A creative self-starter with a knowledge of the communication demands of multiple audiences (specifically high school students and their parents).

Demonstrate a proven record of creative content.

Must be able to work and problem-solve independently and collaborate with campus partners and third-party vendors as necessary.

Familiarity with Marquette’s brand, student experience, and key messages are required.

The ability to travel and to work nights and weekends occasionally

Competency with multiple social media platforms.

Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products
