Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $44,200 - Midpoint: $55,300 (Salaried E6)

Department/Organization: 200721 - Enterprise Technology

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The GIS Analyst provides technical services in the area of geographical information systems (GIS). Administers geospatial data and conducts analyses of this data. Writes GIS-based statistical reports, develops and writes training materials, and conducts software training involving GIS functionalities. Interfaces with a variety of external constituencies.

Additional Department Summary: Assists the lead GIS Programmer in supporting various GIS data and applications. Collects, populates, and maintains data in spatial geodatabases under general supervision of the GIS Programmer. Creates maps and analyze spatial data as collected and contained in the aforementioned geodatabases. Performs tasks such as data file conversions, field audits, training personnel in GIS functionality, overall GIS maintenance across campus, and should possess demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office’s suite of tools. Provides hands on support to entities utilizing GIS across campus.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in geography, civil engineering or computer science or higher and some GIS experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Skills and Knowledge: General knowledge of file formats, including those related to GIS, basic computer operations, and applicable ESRI GIS software is required. Excellent verbal and electronic communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of cartographic/mapping systems. Experience with a relational database management system such as SQL Server. Experience with manipulating spatial data through CAD software and transforming data with tools such as FME.
