Position Description :The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Texas State University invites applications for a renewable contract, Assistant Professor of Instruction position in Geography and Environmental Studies to begin Fall 2025.
We seek individuals with exceptional talent in online teaching, student engagement, and curriculum coordination. This position includes teaching asynchronous online courses through TXST Global’s Online Accelerated Program in support of the online Bachelor of Science with a Major in Geography and Environmental Studies, as well as coordinating the online program. This is a flexible residency position.
The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Texas State University has 34 full-time faculty members, over 400 undergraduate majors in BA and BS programs and over 120 graduate students in our Master of Science (MS), Master of Applied Geography (MAG), and PhD programs in geography, geographic education, and geographic information science. The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies is part of the College of Liberal Arts.
- A PhD degree in Geography or a related field with specialization in Environmental Studies is required by time of appointment;
- Ability to teach three 8-week asynchronous online courses per semester on topics including World Geography, Global Environmental Change, Research Methods, and other courses in the applicant’s area of expertise that are within the online program;
- Certification through Quality Matters or similar credential for excellence in online course development and delivery;
- Ability to coordinate course offerings related to the degree program;
- Ability to work productively with online program management consultants and other online instructors to ensure high quality course delivery;
- Ability to monitor and assist online students through program progression.
Experience in teaching online Geography or Environmental Studies courses.
