Job Responsibilities of the Grants and Projects Accountant include:
- Monitor and manage financial operations related to all college grants, ensuring adherence to grant guidelines and institutional policies. Prepare and maintain comprehensive financial records for each grant, including budgets, expenditures, and revenue. Review grant proposals and agreements to ensure alignment with financial requirements and restrictions. Apply sound accounting principles to align expenditures and revenues with college business office operations. Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial reports for grants as required. Facilitate the financial closeout of grants, ensuring all final financial reports, reconciliations, audits, and documentation are completed on schedule.
- Monitor and manage financial operations related to capital projects, ensuring compliance with project budgets and institutional policies. Review capital project budgets to ensure alignment with financial requirements and restrictions. Work closely with project managers to develop budgets for capital projects, including revenue projections, expenses, and indirect costs. Generate regular financial performance reports for capital projects for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure all final financial reports, reconciliations, audits, and documentation for capital projects are completed on schedule.
- Monitor and manage financial operations related to auxiliary services, ensuring adherence to institutional policies. Prepare and maintain comprehensive financial records for each auxiliary service, including budgets, expenditures, and revenue. Oversee financial management and compliance for the College’s auxiliary services, ensuring all supporting documentation is readily available for audits.
- Stay informed on regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with financial practices related to grants, auxiliary services, and capital projects. Collaborate with external auditors and the Procurement Manager to ensure adherence to regulations and compliance with purchasing. Work with various departments to address financial concerns, provide guidance, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the organization's vision, mission, and values.
State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree with accounting courses and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, banking, or finance. Must have a valid driver's license. NETC Preferred Requirements: Three (3) years of directly related accounting and/or grant accounting experience. Experience with Ellucian Colleague or similar financial management systems.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial management, specifically related to grants and capital projects. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing grants, capital projects, and auxiliary services. Knowledge of state governmental fiscal and budgetary processes and the South Carolina Procurement Code for Governmental and Public Entities. Knowledge of financial management systems and tools, including MS Excel. Ability to plan and implement a financial management program and to interpret and analyze complex financial data and reports. Effective communication skills.
Additional CommentsSome overnight travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
