Position Summary:The Communications Specialist serves supply chain services, the office of the university architect, finance &operational analytics, the real estate foundation, and facilities management in Business Affairs by developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy for the units. This role is responsible for advancing the division’s brand and reputation, enhancing its visibility across the university, and managing both internal and external communications. The Communications Specialist will provide critical public relations support, particularly in last-minute division/department-specific situations, ensuring that the division’s messaging aligns with the university’s broader communication goals.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage website content for the assigned departments.
- Proactively anticipate and address public relations needs across several departments within Business Affairs.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership and the Associate Director of Marketing and Communication for Auxiliary Services to develop and execute robust communication and marketing plans highlighting the division’s positive impact on the university community.
- Contribute to the social media strategy, optimizing website content, and developing communications that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Advertise and support events on behalf of Business Affairs departments; organize and plan these events as needed.
- This position requires additional hours that are beyond the typical work week, to include occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Experience (typically, 2-4 years of experience,) providing direction for communications initiatives and/or public relations work.
- Experience producing thoughtful and compelling messages for web, print, and social applications.
- Prior experience in web design and using a content management system to manage a website.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to effectively work with diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and often conflicting deadlines and projects.
- Strong computer proficiency with various software applications (specifically MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience maintaining a website in the government, higher education, or non-profit sector.
- Experience with web-based email applications and additional communication tools.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a multi-faceted communications program, including publication support, internal and external communications flow, and event management.

Advertised Pay Range:Up to $52,000, commensurate with experience.
